SHANE FERGUSON SIGNS FOR BLYTH TOWN ✍️🔒
Blyth Town are delighted to announce the signing of Shane Ferguson, as the experienced Northern Ireland international becomes our latest addition ahead of the new season.
The 35-year-old brings a wealth of experience from a career that has seen him play in the Premier League, Championship and League One, as well as represent Northern Ireland on the international stage.
A career at the highest level
Shane began his professional career with Newcastle United, coming through the club’s academy before making his first-team debut.
He went on to make 32 appearances for Newcastle across all competitions, before gaining valuable experience on loan with Birmingham City and Rangers.
In 2015, Shane joined Millwall on loan, making a big impression at The Den before completing a permanent move to the club in January 2016.
His time at Millwall proved to be one of the most successful periods of his career. Shane spent six seasons with the Lions, making 217 appearances and scoring 12 goals. He was part of the Millwall side that secured promotion to the Championship in 2017, winning the League One play-offs at Wembley Stadium.
Following his time at Millwall, Shane joined Rotherham United, where he spent three seasons and made more than 70 appearances. During his time with Rotherham, he helped the club earn promotion back to the Championship.
Shane then returned to Northern Ireland with Derry City, making 13 league appearances during the 2025 season.
International experience
Shane’s career has also included an impressive international spell with Northern Ireland.
The versatile left-sided player earned 57 caps for his country, scoring twice, and was part of the Northern Ireland squad at Euro 2016.
His experience at international, Championship and League One level will provide a huge boost to the Blyth Town squad.
