We are delighted to announce the signing of centre midfielder Dean Briggs following his departure from Blyth Spartans AFC.

The 30 year old joins Blyth Town following a 2 year spell at local rivals Blyth Spartans, during the end of his time at the club he was loaned out to Dunston UTS.

Briggs helped Dunston UTS reach the NPL East play-offs for a third year running before their season ended in heartbreaking fashion away to Emley.

His experience will be invaluable to our young squad, having spent 8 seasons in the North East non leauge scene as-well as a stint abroad with Peninsula Power in Australia.

Following his signing Dean said:

“Delighted to be signing for Blyth Town playing under Mick again and along with a few familiar faces in the squad. I can’t wait to get started”

Manager Michael Connor said :

β€œWe needed to add a creative player who can unlock defensives but can also score his fair share of goals, a great signing who is another who will add to a changing room busting with real characters.I had him at Spartans and like Shay stood up to be counted when the budget was cut in half and took a pay cut to help the club, he showed what I love in footballers that it’s about playing.
