Match Preview : Blyth Town FC V South Shields FC

Blyth Town welcome South Shields FC to Gateway Park for the first time in both clubs history as we look to build on our Pre-season preparations.

Blyth look to bounce back from Tuesday Night’s 6-0 defeat at the hands of Gateshead FC, with Blyth showing a positive display against Full-Time opposition.

Blyth will once again be eager to test themselves against high level opposition again before moving into fixtures against teams in lower leagues.

Although the result is secondary during pre season, supporters can expect a competitive game with Blyth looking to get their first win of Pre-season and Shields looking to start their pre season on a win.

The Opposition – South Shields FC Ex Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson will take charge of his first game as Manager of South Shields FC at Gateway Park. Williamson joins the South Tyneside side following Ian Watson and Carl Magnay’s departure to Football League side Rochdale AFC in the summer.

South Shields suffered a huge blow this week by losing key midfielder Will Jenkins to League Two side Rochdale, Jenkins rose through the ranks at South Shields starting out in their academy before establishing himself as a regular starter for the First Team.

It didn’t take long for Williamson to get a replacement in with experienced midfielder Adam Campbell coming in less than one day later.

South Shields come into Pre-season on the back of play-off heartbreak, losing to Kidderminster Harriers in the final, in front of a home crowd of over 3000 people.
