Match Preview : Blyth Town FC V Gateshead FC Football returns to Gateway Park for the first time in over two months as we welcome Gateshead FC for the second pre season in a row.

Following the disappointment of last season’s relegation from the NPL East the Blyth Town squad has overseen a revamp with eight players departing and eight new and returning faces arriving at Gateway Park.

Michael Connor is hoping to have a positive impact on his Blyth side as he looks to oversee his first full campaign in charge since returning to Town in the early months of 2026.

Michael Connor’s Blyth Town travelled to the KD Stadium on Friday night and suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle Blue Star in our first pre season game.

The Opposition – Gateshead F.C

Sunderland born former English Professional footballer Lee Cattermole will take charge of his first ever managerial game on Tuesday night.

Cattermole’s arrival at the Gateshead International Stadium sparked mixed opinions from the fanbase predominantly regarding his Sunderland allegiance.

Following the departure of Rob Elliot to Carlisle United in the summer Cattermole’s first task was to develop his backroom staff and add to a depleted first team squad.

Playing their football in the National League Gateshead will be no easy opponent for Blyth Town following a miraculous great escape last season.

Former Town player Lucas Lowery is expected to make a return to Gateway Park for the first time since his loan expired in the summer.
