Blyth Town FC VS Carlisle City

For the second time in the space of seven days Blyth face off against a team from Cumbria, this time welcoming Carlisle City to Gateway Park.

Blyth return to Gateway Park on the back to two away games with six points gained, six goals scored, zero goals conceded and two clean sheets recorded by different keepers.

Ben Franklin returned to the scoresheet aswell as Owen Mitchell, scoring a wonder goal worthy of any recognition, Bailey Adamson leads the way as top scorer with two more goals at Penrith making his total four for the season, Marcus Giles and Ben Fell added to the list of goal scorers for the season.

Blyth look to make it two from two on home soil, aiming to put the bad home form from our debut NPL East campaign to one side.

The Opposition – Carlisle City

Dan Kirkup’s Carlisle City side opened the season in style defeating local-ish side Kendal 3-1 before suffering heavy defeats at the hands of Whickham and Easington Colliery.

Carlisle finished the last campaign in 15 place with relegation staring at the Cumbrian side they turned it around in the last half of the season to comfortably survive for another season.

Despite the underwhelming leauge campaign the visitors registered successes in the Cumberland Senior Cup defeating Kirkoswald at Frenchfield park to retain their title for the second year running.

One’s to watch 👀

Despite struggling to find the back of the net at Marske, Blyth Town striker Bailey Adamson is still in fine form leading the way for the top scorer in Northern League Division 1 and he will be hoping to add to his total of four against Carlisle.

Carlisle City striker Callum Birdsall despite ending the season as the clubs top scorer had failed to find the back of the net in the opening three games of the season and he will be looking to change that at Gateway Park.

Limited, unreserved parking spaces are available within the ground.

Travel 

Newsham station is a 5 minute walk away from Gateway Park, there is also a bus stop next to the ground that serves the x8 bus to and from Newcastle.
